Averting collapse of the financial system
The dog noticed, first. A small plane, approaching from seaward. A steady loss of altitude, followed by a fly-by. Then, a horizontal loop, dropping down to treetop height before levelling off just above the surface of the lake. During the whole manoeuvre, one prevailing thought: will this plane crash, forcing me to call the emergency number and summon the search and rescue team.
