Averting collapse of the financial system

posted in economy |

The dog noticed, first. A small plane, approaching from seaward. A steady loss of altitude, followed by a fly-by. Then, a horizontal loop, dropping down to treetop height before levelling off just above the surface of the lake. During the whole manoeuvre, one prevailing thought: will this plane crash, forcing me to call the emergency number and summon the search and rescue team.

The plane didn’t; crash, I mean. But I’m left wondering… either I’ve watched too many thriller movies, or my life lacks stimulation. Flash back to a dream, where I’m standing before a garbage truck with the police. Seems that my compost bag also contained some glass bottles and four assorted hammers. Have to think about that one.

We had a visitor, this morning. The guardian angel who had watched over the initial steps of construction and forwarded welcome photos finally stopped in to see what all the fuss was about. A house is a house, etc., but this one is dear to my heart. Not ready to shout “Look! Isn’t this wonderful!”, but I’ll accept input from others.

We had to go to town, on a holiday. Odd choice, because the usual shops were all shuttered. Happily, I managed to deposit a cheque into an ATM, averting financial meltdown. Yes, I have that in common with at least one Western nation; collapse of the monetary system may rest squarely on my shoulders. We didn’t hang around the city for any more time than required (a quick lunch).  Stopped in St. Peter’s, but the coffee guy still isn’t open for business. I hope this has no permanent implications.
