Need more music
My neighbours (and family, closer to heart) should be thankful that I have limited financial resources. Otherwise, I’d be hard at work, filling the available space with music. Or rather, musical instruments. Why, just this afternoon, I fell seriously in “wish I had one of those” mode, with a set of Uileann pipes and a mid-sized harp. Either would fit beside the bed, ready for a moment of inspiration in that period before dawn when the mind moves to unknown reaches.
Seriously, this was a wonderful afternoon. Things to do, people to meet, conversation. Why, even the dog seemed to be caught up in the moment. We had left home after the noon bell, headed for two local fair moments. The weather cooperated; not too hot, no rain. The admission cost came down to a pocketful of coins; getting rid of that baggage is always worthwhile.
First up, a festival dedicated to sea glass (or as we used to say, broken bottles). Turns out that there is a whole community of jewelry artists, turning a coloured fragment into a brooch, or a pendant, or other things that I cannot easily identify. I’m not sure how the retail side goes, but under a tent, the world takes on a friendly turn, and I’m sure that there are new geegaws in homes throughout the area. It was there that I spied the pipes and harp, and realized that my collection of sound production tools lacks range.
On the way home, another social moment. The local museum offered reasonably priced strawberries and ice cream, and I managed to meet many neighbours. They know about me…
