Too much data to allow appropriate analysis

Reading the news is enough to give one a case of apoplexy. Whatever that is. Particularly news dealing with the inability of governments to protect anything other than business and big money. Apoplexy, without apology.

All in favour of a good night’s sleep

Here we are, another reasonable weekend coming to an end, and all I can think about is how sleeping is fun. Especially when you are warm and comfortable, on a not-too-full stomach with enough hours before sunrise to keep one on task. Linear.

The storm remained disorganized, in honour

Could have been a very breezy day down in the Boston area, if “Danny” had grown into a hurricane instead of remaining disorganized. The Maritimes were on alert, having managed a near miss from another storm only one week ago. Still, when the Americans have to bury one of their own, even Mother Nature gives a free pass.

All that remains will be wrecked

Back thirty years ago, when I was a young diver in search of knowledge, I was a regular reader of various magazines devoted to the sport. A feast of images, harvested in waters much warmer than those around the Island, and a steady stream of articles praising the opportunities for the well-finned tourist. I never boarded a plane in the direction of those crystal-clear waters, but I knew that the ocean was ch0ck full of sunken treasure.

Stiffs aren’t, really

Be reassured. Nothing is forever (except death). Especially, remember that an appointment to the Canadian Senate does have an end date (death or 75, first to arrive). No matter how many people get the nod, it really won’t matter. Go ahead – name ten senators from the last 140 years, without recourse to Wiki. See?

Big farms and bigger claims

Mark my words. Software piracy is a terrible thing to behold. Worse, still; the reactions of certain larger corporations who believe that their rights have been slighted.

Talent not necessary

The car left the driveway and the dog took her rightful place beside me on the couch. Time to kick back and watch what we wanted, or nap, or both. Our quiet time was short; barely thirty minutes later the dog was at the window, tail a waggin’. Who was coming to visit?

My dog doesn’t make excuses

Ever see a taxi sitting by the side of the road, waiting? Ever wonder what the driver might be doing? How about the proverbial “parental taxi”? From personal experience, and as a rank amateur, the taxi parent may not be as on task as the professional. In my case, I find myself listening to whatever CBC may be offering up, without attention to the hour or the day.

End of vacation with impending doom as theme music

Turns out that the hamburger I had prepared for use in chili wasn’t such a switch hit when it ended up in the Shepherds’ Pie. Something about unexpected spiciness.

Listening to a time warp

Pardon me for playing the nostalgic card, but this evening I’m enjoying the memories from a concert that I never attended. Too young, too poor, all the usual reasons for missing THE show of a lifetime.
