Home heating with a data-processing angle

Just in case a place can have a birthday… Happy Birthday, PEI. You got your most recent name back in 1798, on this date. Befo e my time, sure. Still worth giving the world a head’s up.

More tablets on the horizon

I’m sharing the room with an iPad2, trying to make head or tail out of the ongoing tablet wars. No, the ‘Pad isn’t mine; I rarely get to touch it. After all, that’s about all you can do with it. Go ahead. Try typing your blog post sometime, for a moment of slow.

Another season of bliss, or glee, or whatever

The “fall season” is upon us, on the cable networks. Tonight, the start of season number three for Glee. Before you ask the question: yes, the Wile E. Coyote vs the Roadrunner theme is as solid as as. Sue will not be gleeful. It’s in her DNA. And the musical production value is there. I’ll be back, same time next week.

Is this a landing or a “sea-ing”?

I’m trying my patience. Sometime last year (time does fly), I managed to turn my netbook into a triple-boot wondermachine. Went on vacation, happily, and excused the “in progress” status of one OS as my fault. Lack of time to fine tune, etc. And then the cold weather returned and I shelved the project.

Computing a workaround

Not having the right equipment, I can find ways to spend a whole afternoon. Productivity levels may not be outstanding, but I do get to test my problem solving skills.  That’s a good thing, right?

The informed collector

A collector and the Internet go hand in hand. In the old days, we depended on scarce catalogs, or bits of identification gleaned from the rare contacts with other, like-minded folk. Now, if you can Google or Wiki, the answers are there. Literally, figuratively, whateverly. And I don’t care if you don’t think that’s a word; it works for me.
