Time to go and study some arcane section of engineering; maybe fluid dynamics as a factor of humidity. Else, the mystery of my “too thick to slurp” milkshake will remain as a subject for the experts. I won’t be able to demonstrate the difficulty, or share (I finally cleaned out the container with a spoon).

Since this blog is part of my life record, let me add another detail. In response to my carefully worded letter from two mornings back, the HR director sent me a carefully worded letter thanking me for my long years of service and wishing me the best in my future. That’s how it works. My retirement is now a question of weeks and paperwork.

In any large computer network system, there is a risk of artefacts. Things change, and housekeeping gets lackadaisical. Consider the drawer of many wonders in your own home (everyone has at least one). Networks are like that.

Am I difficult? When my employer changes a holiday from one date to another, is it wrong for me to point out that bus service on the “come to work” day will be arduous? HR did advise me that I can negotiate flexible hours with my superior; pity that the bus ride will take four hours round trip. Just the price to pay for not driving a car into the city center.

After spending a few minutes on YouTube, watching how others use Loopy on their iDevices, one question must be asked. How do people go to work when there’s so much potential for creation? Someone close (within touching distance) has offered to bring a Mini into my life, and my resistance is dropping. Either the iStuff is radioactive, or the time (and price) is right.

Turns out there is no apparent access to a version of Tetris! I knew that the orchard wasn’t a great place to play, but for pity’s sake. No Tetris? How do the locals put up?

Anyone who tried to access this site over the last few hours may have been less than impressed by the single blank page that came back. That includes me.

Given that we spend our money for a broken political system, and the politicians in charge tend to be largely invisible, there’s good reason for the derision aimed at the big names on the Hill. Only on a rare occasion do we think of them as individuals, with obvious personality. That’s why today’s headline came as a shock.

Almost twenty-four hours have passed; can we stop talking about the elections already? I jest, barely. Never has such a massive change in direction received so little conversation time. Other than my newspaper, which went to bed just after me, nothing. Not on the bus. Not on the street. Not at all.

Maybe it had been a particularly long afternoon. Or the weather was “edgy”. Not sure. When the recipe emerged from the printer in the Ivory Tower, things degraded. Quickly. My phone rang and “inquiring minds wanted to know”. Who sent the anonymous print job? For the record, we may never know.
