Now that the clock updating is complete, I see how my life gets altered. I wanted to sleep until noon. It’s now 7 p.m.; still bright outside and I haven’t started supper. Bedtime will be here before I’m ready. Could we start again, please. I’m willing to go back to a simpler time, when a clock depended on church bells for a weekly time check. Not sure how that worked, actually. Weren’t all the locals in church? Who set the clocks? Did cows rule the earth?

I don’t acquire new skills every day. That would be exhausting, after all; I had my big rush back when learning to walk was considered as “new and improved”. No, I muddle along, picking up little bits of knowledge from time to time, but life isn’t as intense as it was back when my world revolved around family and feeding time.

Under spattering skies, I was off to buy gas this morning. Mind you, the container isn’t large, but it only takes about a minute to “fill ‘er up”. The autostop feature on today’s pumps is convenient.

For a third, consecutive day, I returned to the lighthouse. This time around, I waited until after lunch, based on the premise that “maximum tourist numbers” don’t coincide with dawn visits.

With a job to do, I rolled out of bed before dawn. Managed to get away from the house without waking anyone else (including our overnight guests) and made the short drive over to the point. I was early; the team inside were still in sleeping mode. And so I did the obvious thing. I watched the sun rise. Glorious.

Friday, and the “trumphant” sideshow continues. Another top advisor, cut loose. From here, a war by attrition. When there’s nobody left to impress, the man will take all his marbles and go home. I shouldn’t be concerned, as this is going on in another country. However, much like when an inexperienced house painted gets busy in a gale, the drops of pigment are flying everywhere. Onto the neighbouring house, for example. Until he runs out of paint, or the gales diminish, the rest of us had better wear protective clothing. Never has a ball cap seemed so necessary, before now.

I knew something like this would happen; I showed a bit of interest in joining a club of like-minded individuals, and now I’m part of an organizing team. In the works, a weekend “activation” of the lighthouse up the road. We’re going to install some antennas and transceivers, and then we’re going to advertise our presence to the world. As if a big flashing light on the roof wasn’t enough.

Based ona a hint from the kitchen calendar, we spent the afternoon seeking the light. A light. A lighthouse. We could have stayed local (there’s one just down the road), but we opted to put some miles on the tires and head cross-country to Point Prim.

As long as my ISP doesn’t apply a data cap, I’ll be fine. We have slow access here; it never gets above 3.1 MBps. We make do. Once in a while, I have to squeeze the tube a bit.

This day is starting to get a little long. I blame the dog, in part; he seemed to need me as the designated “open the door and let me out” assistant, twice during the night. Messes with the REM sleep, big time. In fact, when it came time to go off for a real breakfast, I took a break, to fast.
