Inadvertent cabling
With a job to do, I rolled out of bed before dawn. Managed to get away from the house without waking anyone else (including our overnight guests) and made the short drive over to the point. I was early; the team inside were still in sleeping mode. And so I did the obvious thing. I watched the sun rise. Glorious.
Still no signs of activity, so I decided to scan the AM and FM dials on the radio. There still is activity, in amplitude land, but it is limited. On the other hand, the “normal” band was loaded with stations. More than I would have guessed. Might have to start listening to radio around the house.
With the lighthouse finally open (sic), I joined the ops on duty. One of the radios had suffered a front-end failure last evening, due to some inadvertent cabling. Repairs will be an eventual conclusion to the failure to test. I was requested to go online and get a quote from the service center in Toronto.
The question of a replacement radio was sent up (a trial balloon). I’m not willing to send my real radio out into the wild, but there is a second transceiver here. After our breakfast in Souris, I did the box sort, and after what seemed like too long, I found everything. Back to the lighthouse, where another donor had already arrived. Didn’t even need to unload stuff from the car.
And now, supper is done. Another BBQ in pouring rain. I’m getting adept at dodging drops.
