Finding the pieces of my puzzle
Under spattering skies, I was off to buy gas this morning. Mind you, the container isn’t large, but it only takes about a minute to “fill ‘er up”. The autostop feature on today’s pumps is convenient.
I’m trying to get things ready for a new mode (FT8) in radio. Had to find that precious little digital interface (Signalink USB) I had obtained some years back. It was, as you can imagine, “in a box in a box”. My X-ray vision is only good for the first layer of protection, so things take a bit longer to turn up. Next on the list, updating a small laptop that I keep around for such things. It wasn’t started in the last year, and now I’m several hours into system updates. What seemed like a rapid machine, several years ago, is now lethargic. Perhaps that is the definition of “Centrino”. I’m unwilling to repurpose anything better for what is likely to be a temporary experiment, so I’ll let things run until done.
What else is going on? The family seems to enjoy BBQ; I was out under threatening skies again this evening.
In commerce, the headline states that “Google and Walmart intend to challenge Amazon”. Not sure how that will work, actually. I mean, having a better way to find things in the aisles might help, but seriously? When I ask Amazon for new stuff, it arrives. Walmart still requires a trip to the mall. Different models.
In Goulds, NL, the lines are growing long. A dream of $2 million brings out anyone with some extra cash in the cookie jar.
