Losing the refrigerator is not fun, nor funny. It should not be taken lightly. When one gets up in the middle of the night, there is no longer a guiding light in the back of the kitchen. Warm milk is recommended for the very young and very old. Only.

Today was a first for me. Supper, a barbecue, prepared by the progeny (mine, not the rock band). A barbecue where the meat was not provided in our family standard of basic black.

With the warm temperature at hand, the pool requires that I invest in time and materials to keep the waters limpid. Specifically, the backwash to get rid of the accumulated debris and the magic powders that need to be added, in portions that are about as roughly estimated as I can get away with.

The more I play with this whole world of blogs, wikis, datasets and their assorted cousins, the more I am convinced that everyone should have this stuff close at hand. I find myself telling those around me, virtual strangers by times, that if only they would adopt, they too would believe.

Our office has somewhat more than fifty people working every day on computers. More than fifty machines, not counting the server room. Machines wear out, get old, leave the productivity curve in decline, so they have to be replaced. Right.

Remember the old adage about the weather; how, if you don’t like it, just wait for a few minutes until it changes? Well, some of the OSS/GPL projects are much like that. I started out by “building” an Asterisk PBX box. I put the project aside, because sleep and work take precedence. By the time I got back on track, the project site had evolved, into something called TrixBox.

My second Bluetooth adaptor arrived today, following a long and arduous journey that began over a month ago in the land of eBay. Anyhow, I’d figured this would be an easy install, since I’d already used one from the same company and the drivers should be ready to rock and roll. Note to self; nothing is ever EASY.

My turn to push the lawn mower around today. After what seems like a week of rain; OK, after a week of rain, the grass was lush, thick, just like the stuff we dream of when it comes time to pitch a tent or something similar. Instead, I spent an hour cutting the stuff, and then getting on with life.

I’ve been really lucky these last few years. Almost never sick. A slight problem with an eye that has turned out to be an acceptable compromise for now. Overall, the health thing has been on the plus side.
