A stupendous show

I enjoy a really big show. With the sixteen days and nights offered up by the gathered masses in Rio, I can say that my satisfaction is at an Olympic level. Tonight, the culmination.

Buy, quickly

In spite of the heat, I felt like going into the city. A change of scenery, or at least, a chance to watch the scenery go by, as we made the trip. In the end, unable to make a clear decision as a group, I opted for the “silent majority” approach. The dog rode shotgun.

Rolling in the fur

I wish the dog could talk. Should we be keeping the bundles of hair that he loses, in case of a cold spell? Seriously. The amount, per day, is impressive. Rolling along the floor until the vacuum cleaner intervenes. We even have a special “brush” that pulls great clutches away, which we then recycle into birds nests (I hope).

A new weave pattern

The dog learned a new trick this afternoon. Or maybe it’s just a variation; I’ll salute his inventive process, just the same. His outside lead is rather long, and lately he’s been weaving the cord around the three bird feeder poles. Intricate loops, requiring time and energy to get free. Mostly MY time and energy. Anyhow, that’s what he does.

A brace of silly mutts

Meeting someone new can be fun. Especially, it seems, for our dog. I arrived back from a prior engagement, and found new faces in the kitchen.

A weighed quantity

Based on what I’ve been reading on social media for the last bit, we are officially mobilized. Locally. There seems to be a dognapper making the rounds in an identified car, stopping in yards to offer rides to young dogs. No, not a van…

Squeaky cheese on sale

Funny what triggers a dog’s interest; this morning, just after dawn, the dog convinced me that he really, REALLY, needed me to open the door to the living room. And, without delay, open the curtains. Always ready to assist my four-pawed friend, I did so. He then stood and barked, intently… at a crow foraging beneath the seed dispenser. Face palm (because a muzzle paw is so difficult to duplicate).

Let the hunger games continue

A month ago, I’d pretty much put the Idol worship behind me. After all, what could be enthralling about an experience that’s already happened fourteen times before? I’m not sure I had even bothered to check things out, last year, what with other more pertinent concerns.

An invitation to dialogue

Dear Dog. Please consider this letter as an invitation to dialogue. We’ve got certain issues that remain unresolved; I’ll try to maintain a polite tone, in keeping with our long term agreement to share space.

Homebrew another bike?

Today, a trip to the city. While one family member attended sewing machine school, the dog and I set off to entertain ourselves for a couple of hours. Thankfully, the hairy one is easily amused.
