Homebrew another bike?

posted in pets |

Today, a trip to the city. While one family member attended sewing machine school, the dog and I set off to entertain ourselves for a couple of hours. Thankfully, the hairy one is easily amused.

There’s a level of pleasure, for a dog who discovers new places to mark, that humans only wish they could match. A steady jog from bush to bush; all goes well until the “fluid level” drops too low, and then back to the car to resume passenger duties. I, on the other hand, had to navigate from place to place. The Park road was closed (they’re resurfacing the boardwalk), so we settled for free parking near Founders’s Hall. Given the late date, we were the only tourists in view.

I had some other errands on my list. Found an inexpensive carrying bag for the portable recorder. Bought ink for one of the printers. Shopped for a bicycle. I’m going to have to find new financing options; a good bike costs more than I’m willing to spend, and a poor bike is a wasted purchase. Son #3 wants me to go the homebrew route. After all, it works for computers and radios. I’ve done that sort of thing before, but the component brands have evolved. Yet another research project.

Watching videos about tunnel construction for Victorian railways in England. Now that’s a topic where I come with no previous knowledge. Nor will I ever have an occasion to apply my new learning; let’s call this an exercise in avoiding watching network TV, and move along.
