A weighed quantity
Based on what I’ve been reading on social media for the last bit, we are officially mobilized. Locally. There seems to be a dognapper making the rounds in an identified car, stopping in yards to offer rides to young dogs. No, not a van…
This one demonstrates that the crazies are out there. The abduction are for real, and the local police are involved. Now, my noisy fur ball tends to be either inside or by my side, so the risk (here) is mitigated.
Anyhow, today meant a road trip, down to the main drag in Montague. A visit to see about that sore shoulder, for son #3. I waited in the car, for the hour, listening to CBC. In passing, I guess that DNTO is going off the air, to my dismay. After the real reason for travel was completed, we headed to the hardware store for some loose screws. Had to up my buy to a “weighed quantity”; another first for me.
Our fast food lunch showed me that my native language skills have been altered by my three decades off-Island. Requesting my sandwich “in a trio” left the woman behind the counter confused; the locals refer to things as a “combo”. Gave the kid something to giggle about.
Based on reports via Twitter and online news, the fire situation in Fort Mac is much worse than yesterday. Whole neighbourhoods on fire, and the only road out of town a bit congested. Not fun. Their temperatures are up into the “thirties”; not the winter version. No rain in their forecast, either.
