Peeled and discarded

posted in environment, politics |

I didn’t witness the attack, but a small hawk came very close to getting fresh squirrel for the main meal of the day. Here, this afternoon. A low, silent swoop. That cage, hanging in the front yard, might be the safest spot around for the lads. Not much room for more than a couple at a time, though.

In the news, PKP has decided to get out of the political business and return to more familiar capitalist territory. Oh, he still has his new arena, but the taxpayer-funded limousine will be just a memory. Like him, for us. Less than a year isn’t long enough to leave a legacy.

And our taxes are all filed. In lieu of the suggested T4, I sent in a payslip from the end of the year for son #3’s paperwork. Next year, he should be able to use NetFile, like ordinary folk. Silly, how the government wants the “first return” to be on paper.

The plastic screen protector from my mini iPad is gone. Peeled and discarded. I’d love to know what happened, so that the layer suddenly blistered like it did; the next one will be glass. Until the order arrives, I’ll be extra careful, and I’ll try to desmudge as I go.

Up in the Fort Mac area, wildfires are raging. What happens if some of the extra fossil fuel catches on fire, I wonder? It could happen… Might be a reminder to the oil-greedy: the stuff burns, albeit not well. As for the people who live up there, I hope things don’t go nasty for you.
