Some day, I hope that son #3 will forgive me. Or get his own place. His room is particularly well placed for “infrastructure” updates, and I keep finding nooks and crannies to store things that have fans and wires and flashing lights. Good thing he’s a sound sleeper.

Shopping online comes with two main characteristics; good prices and an excess of stress. You, as a potential client, have to weigh things in your personal balance before advancing to ‘Go’.

Given that we are trying to keep two dogs in a relative state of calm (relative is relative), and the oversight by all involved concerning purchases of packages candy, this is a lights out kind of evening. You see, there may be people in disguise going door to door, and if our house looks boring, they may pass by. So far, only one knock, so the plan is working.

Wish I paid more attention to the various “show notices” around town. Due to getting the news too late, I’m missing a concert by Tim Chaisson, only minutes away. There: requisite sad face.

Permit me to perform a “happy dance”. The SDR project was tested this afternoon, and it worked! I now have a SoftRock Lite II Combined Receiver Kit, constructed according to plan and functional on 40 meters. For those of you who believe that a radio comes installed in your car or home cinema, take it from me that there are still people who like to start from scratch. When it works, your new radio becomes YOUR new radio, and the emphasis is deserved.

My internal clock is off by a whole day. Had to check the newspaper banner to make sure. I’ll lay blame with this afternoon’s football game (wherein the Rouge et Or proved to the upstart Carabins where the dynasty lives). What should be a Saturday activity, on a Sunday. You can understand my confusion.

I’m going to sleep tonight without the benefit of curtains. Preparation, you see, for the busy day tomorrow, when the window changers are due onsite. We got word just after suppertime, and the last couple of hours have been a scramble. Vertical blinds are designed to defy gravity; removal meant that my arms stayed above my head for far too long. Little matter. The windows have been bared, and by this time tomorrow I’ll be back to trying a reversal. Bets are already on over how many will be the wrong size.

Took the dog to the vet this morning. No urgency; the scar from the recent surgery seems to be healed properly, so it was time to get things unsewn. Between my phone call and the laying on of the magical scissors, less than two hours, most of that because I wasn’t ready to go down any earlier. The usual comedy show where I tried (and failed) to fit the car harness, and we were off. Once on site, I did the power lift to get his hairiness into position. The tech took her trusty scissors (just like the ones used to cut bandages in a first aid kit) and snipped the seven sutures. Done. No hassle, no wrestling. A quick inspection of the externals by the vet and we were out.

Around here, we don’t spend much time looking out the windows. Proof: the furniture that seems to have found that perfect spot in front of the various windows in our house. A tiny complication, now that the window company is coming to measure for the replacements this weekend. And with the clock ticking, I set about moving stuff to alternate places. Not better; alternate. Just to avoid confusion.

First day n back from the beach, the priorities have to be set. In order of occurrence, the kitchen must be unearthed, followed by reactivation of the coffee machine. After the caffeine high has passed, life can progress to other things. Baggage. Recycling. Waking son #3 to help move a ladder outside so I can climb on the roof.
