When things collapse

posted in food, ham radio |

Around here, we don’t spend much time looking out the windows. Proof: the furniture that seems to have found that perfect spot in front of the various windows in our house. A tiny complication, now that the window company is coming to measure for the replacements this weekend. And with the clock ticking, I set about moving stuff to alternate places. Not better; alternate. Just to avoid confusion.

All went well until I decided to move the complete ham radio station across the hall. After all, the desk is on wheels… thing is, I’d neglected to note just how much stuff was stored in the drawer space. When the table split its sides and collapsed in ruin, my day took a turn for the worse.

I am pragmatic. No sense in wasting time “crying over spilt milk”. And so with aplomb, I simply dismantled the system and put my on air ability into storage (for now). The table/desk has a new place out by the curb; if it doesn’t get adopted in the next couple of evenings, then a trip to the local EcoCentre will be required. My next station setup will require a rethinking.

Other than that, the day has gone well. The first post-vacation grocery order is now here, so we can start eating stuff that doesn’t make the Top 5 of Junk Foods list. Least we can do. I think the murmured remarks from son #3 had something to do with it. I received the lens hood I ordered from Hong Kong (less than two weeks ago). I’m not sure we’d have any better service from a Canadian dealer.
