Open, Sesame? Not exactly

Think about the premise for a movie that involves “the heist”. One of the principle plot devices involves breaking into a vault of some sort. Come on, we’ve all seen at least one, along the way. Well, what about the real safe crackers. They exist, and some even do the job legally.

Are two hounds better than one? Not really.

Time for a little distraction. Actually, not so little: our neighbour’s blue eyed puppy continues to grow, although I haven’t  completed my analysis. Is it linear, logarithmic or exponential? The constant motion (Brownian?) inhibits any attempt at measurement. Distraction, it is.

Analysing the run

Last night, the chorus sang. Coyotic, hypnotic, almost chaotic. We don’t hear them often (enough). It always begins with a single voice, and sometimes after the initial solo, it ends. Last night, added layers in their harmony. Of course, our dog was enthralled; isn’t that the point, to use their siren skills to attract canine attention? We told our beast to ignore the other beasts, go back to sleep. Which he did.

Turn back time? Stop the clock.

Can we turn back time? Probably not. But, we can stop the clock, just long enough to serve the illusion. This evening, I watched the second chapter of a story I first saw a full half-century ago. Let’s begin with a quote, shall we?

On the wrong side of the paywall

Day One on the wrong side of a local paywall; I am deeply confused about what to do. Although I respect the right of any firm to sell its product, is local news something that belongs to the firm, or to the people at large? Without us, can they exist? Shouldn’t they be paying me, should it be necessary for money to change hands?

After all the stones have been cast

The icebreaker left, just after sunrise. This is the first time a ship has been at anchor, in view, overnight, and I rather appreciated the change in routine.

The RV started normally, after close to two weeks off. I wish we all recovered from a vacation so well. In truth, it looks like my slow and steady recharge of batteries may have worked. Still a lot of winter left, but the first crisis situation is behind us.

Increased flow

I grew up consuming media, of one sort; the printed page. Books, magazines, newspapers.  All rooted in classic paragraph format. I’m a late comer to the stuff I now watch.

According to the line

The dog is sitting, quietly. While I wolf down a plate of stir fry, he reminds me, politely, that sharing is righteous. I am unsure if he realizes that I keep the best pieces of beef, while sending odd bits of broccoli  stock and misshapen carrots in his direction.

The puzzle solver

Recently, I came across an article that tried to explain one of the wonders of our age. Yes, I’m referring to Shazam. Perhaps the best reason for owning an iOS product is that app.
