After all the stones have been cast
The icebreaker left, just after sunrise. This is the first time a ship has been at anchor, in view, overnight, and I rather appreciated the change in routine.
As well, my week of watching curling just ended. The hardware didn’t go home with Team Homan, but the entertainment value remained constant. So much tension, and at no cost other than the adrenalin. Only one year to wait until the next time.
Right now, the Oscars are up. No host, but a show like this tends to be an autopilot performance. I really should have watched a few of the contenders, I guess. We live in a world where the story lines are all familiar, but the nuance doesn’t come through in a review paragraph, or a trailer clip. My fault, really. I had ample opportunity. Now I can watch based on wins rather than opinions.
The storm has been shelved, for this area. Oddly, we should still get the snow and the high winds, so I’ll have to wait until Tuesday to figure out what makes us different from the rest of the province. There won’t be any school closures to worry about (scheduled ped days). We have food. Guess I can wait and watch, just like any other time. I checked in on the kids, earlier, and it’s blowing good in their part of the world.
Speaking of weather, Toronto is preparing for “a big blow”. The numbers seem impressive until I realize that they are just like any good weekend on our bridge. Perhaps having tall buildings makes everything seem more important. They do have a subway, so drifts in the streets aren’t as big a problems as they are locally.
