The RV started normally, after close to two weeks off. I wish we all recovered from a vacation so well. In truth, it looks like my slow and steady recharge of batteries may have worked. Still a lot of winter left, but the first crisis situation is behind us.
A “national state of emergency” has been declared in the US. Unlike past events (think outbreak of war), this time it comes down to an unbuilt wall. How the mighty have fallen. Next on the judicial agenda, an effort to block the declaration, followed by who knows what? All new, on the news.
And now back to the usual silliness. A major decision has been taken by the Oscars committee, where they will award the awards during the broadcast. Earlier in the cycle, someone had figured out that ad time is worth real money; why not offer up a few more minutes to the highest bidder, while the awards are handed out during the down time? And the protests were immediate. File this one under “only when the idiots are in control”. We can find ad content on our own time, thank you very much. And if YouTube is paying attention, I don’t need an ad before every video. I am not likely to buy what you’re flogging.
Also, this year’s ceremonies won’t have a host. How does that work? Will they use a chyron along the lower border? Voice overs? I can’t wait to see.
