The iPad is filling up. I might have to dump some of the apps that do things, or chuck out some of the virtual magazines. How like real life is that?

Sorry I missed it. There were byelections yesterday. Although the results were predictable (this is Canada), the victory speech wasn’t. JET (the son of PET) quoted “Jack” during his political Address To A Haggis. Gasp! For the record, Justin used some memorable quotes from the belated Mr. Layton, thereby ensuring that the members of the Orange tribe will not vote for the Red tribe any time soon. Not that they were going to. But in politics, the offended nature is more important than the actual content.

Photography used to be a negative business. Or, rather, a business of negatives. Every picture involved one, which the skilled photographer turned into a positive, in a dark room. Or a darkroom. Anyhow, cataloging negatives involved production of contact sheets. Many of my memories are physically reduced in size, and I keep them stored in a box.

I’ve found a variation on the “I would like to buy” meme. Try picking TWO things, related, and then spend endless hours “comparing and contrasting” both contenders. Recovered an hour of my life today. Unwilling to waste such a precious commodity, we (in the team sense) set out to make the best of the situation. And, although we’re still minutes away from dusk, I’m rather self-satisfied.

A mixed blessing that the university football game isn’t until tomorrow. Left to my own devices, I would have spent the afternoon glued to the tube; instead, I decided to go for productivity.

Finally got around to testing software on the set of photos I took last summer. To my surprise, even a 360 “in the round” picture doesn’t match standing there in the breeze. Technology. I’m going to post a simple panorama shot, just as a proof of concept.

“Missed us by THAT much!” Maxwell Smart said it, but we live it. Another close encounter with an asteroid, this afternoon. No dinosaurs were driven to extinction, but we may not have to worry about mundane things like peak oil, or storm surge; the next time a big old rock zips by, the zip might be zap.
