Hope for more than pence on the pound

The special forces of air conditioning came today. With their skills and boxes of new gear, they banished the noise.

We’ve been living on the edge, in IT terms. The server room lost the cooling it so needs, last week, and to avoid a thermal emergency we’ve been forced to work with the noise of the temporary solution. Sound levels at 85 dB are not relaxing, particularly when our workload requires lots of telephone support. The bill may be in excess of $6K, but it is worth every penny… er, nickel. We now round such things up/down.

With hours to spare, I decided to give one last push and complete the final assignment for the guitar course. Not a credit to my ability, but the credit was in danger if I didn’t submit something (see how skillfully I managed to use credit in two ways; pity my performance wasn’t equally (skillfully) prepared.

I’ve been considering the resale value of some of my older (and unused) camera gear. The film gear, which will never again be put to use. There must be a collector, somewhere, who will pay more than pence on the pound. Time to start checking the forums to see what people want.

Reading the probs from Alberta this afternoon. Red tornado warnings, with air temperature at a balmy 11C. I’m glad I don’t have to live with a similar sword of Damocles (in weather terms). Snow, rain… no big deal. Winds that strip the room clean; not on my list of things to experience.
