Before the dust storm

I called the HVAC people, and there’s a good chance they’ll be by tomorrow to finish the physical install. Given that it’s been a full week since their last trip up here, I’m starting to find the timeline to be stretched. Elastic. I’ve become accustomed to dealing with companies that take my money and get the job done (thank you, Amazon). Waiting for service in dribs and drabs is so “old school”, because the billing cycle is much quicker.

Pushing to another level

An unexpected finish to my day; I may have committed myself to going to school. OK, evening school, and only for so long as my interest is maintained, what with the proposed requirement of 75 minutes of travel time, but formal study, just the same. In a basic Irish language course, taught by a musician!

Shifting the timeline into overdrive

From today’s “keep me guessing” page:  We’re hoping to renovate the basement, before the end of this century. Given that we’ve made zero progress in the last four years, my time estimate seems realistic. Anyhow, on a whim, I pulled up the phone number of a local electrician, and called. Got a ringback machine. The story of my life.

Imagined organization

Why can’t I be as motivated to organize things, during the day, as I am while safely in bed, one step away from dreaming? Last night, I worked out the new layout for my equipment table in the basement. Everything fit, and my productivity would increase significantly. Today, with the daylight almost gone, I realize that I did nothing. The plan remained theoretical. Was I simply dreaming?

Authentic American Art

Although home is still over the horizon, today marks our criss-cross of the continent. Out, from the Maritimes to the Wet Coast, then south to Oregon (where I dipped a toe, symbolically) and back east to here. That is, on the coast in Connecticut. As early as this morning, we had planned another water fall, but our plans evolved during the day. I’ll get back to that.

Off to the beach

New aches and pains; this was the first beach day of the year, and between walking the waterline and dragging behind the dog, I may have awoken certain muscle groups that had missed the calendar update. No big deal. Getting out to where the white noise level is actually pleasant, and before any bugs hatch is wonderful. Of course, I was overdressed for the occasion. No danger of sunburn with three layers of heavy garments, but the beach is eternal.

In the language trenches

Double delivery day here; two different vans in the driveway, and the dog working overtime to earn his pay. I get it. The people that go door to door to door have nerves of steel. No staying in the van and waiting to see if a rescue will be required. They’re out, and have the parcel AND the electronic gizmo AND the token dog biscuit in hand. Count that up. It might be that these are mutants, who are specially recruited by UPS and others.

No longer invisible

If current trends continue, I will have to go back to school. My education is filling up with knowledge gaps, as improbable as that idea might seem. Most recently, that photo of a black hole.

The fate of a private library

Slowly, I am starting to accept something basic: I will probably not re-read books. Too many that are in the queue, and a realization that I still remember the “salient facts” of the ones from my past. Is it time to donate my library to someone else? Are my children interested? Come on, kids, reach out here.

Fixed it with a sledge hammer

Yes, more flurries. This is why the snow tires stay in place until the end of the party. It doesn’t matter if the daily melt is done; one forecast sees us with another thirty cm early next week. I’m keeping my boots and mitts ready, as well.
