Fixed it with a sledge hammer

Yes, more flurries. This is why the snow tires stay in place until the end of the party. It doesn’t matter if the daily melt is done; one forecast sees us with another thirty cm early next week. I’m keeping my boots and mitts ready, as well.

Today, I actually mailed two envelopes at the local postal counter. Bills, not missives. It struck me that I hadn’t done something like this in many, many months. Old habits. I could have settled either account with an electronic transfer, but that’s something not yet in my comfort zone, so getting out an envelope feet comfortable. Didn’t have to lick anything, what with those neat pull-tapes over the adhesive. Modern while retro.

Not that I intend to start a new career, but one article this afternoon made so much sense. A woman lost her iPhone. Kids. With the close correlation to the home toilet being plugged, she did a quick mathematical analysis, dragged the bowl outside and used a handy sledge hammer to get to the root of the problem. Yes, she now needs a new toilet, but her phone has been found.

The story goes on, to tell how she then learned to solder, in order to repair the smartphone with a lot of family photos. She succeeded. And, pushed by her experience, she now runs a small repair shop (do that many phones get flushed?) The manufacturer wouldn’t help, so she became the master/mistress of her own destiny. And it just goes to show; even tough situations can have silver lining.

My family tree database passed the 84K mark this afternoon.
