I’ve been working through my list of jobs that have to get done. Tiny jobs, for the main. That piece of siding, on the front of the house? Snapped back into place, without any need to get abusive or hammer unduly. My proofing job on a manuscript? No stress… punctuation has rules. Shopping for another freezer? Soon. For now, the air is still cold.

Given the absence of new chocolate around the house, I have to assume that the famous bunny missed his stop. No surprise, really. We were up, mid-way through the night, watching a number of coyotes out in the driveway. Scared us, and bunnies aren’t any braver.

Got milk. Nothing to do with the meme; I simply grabbed the dog as co-pilot and we went to the local store. And got milk. How simple is that? The dog takes these excursions as a highlight in his day. So do I.

Another confusing message: our recycled stuff is unwanted. In China… where we believed that all our plastic garbage would eventually go to find a new life. However, they’ve caught on to our subterfuge. The ships filled with bales of stuff that can’t even be burned are now asked to “move along”. What to do, says everyone else.

If only you had seen me: outside dressed in a tee and shorts, using the shovel to clear those last, pesky traces of snow from the deck. I could have been barefoot, except… well, you know, snow. But my hope is restored. I think we’re ready to call spring started. Haven’t found the mud, yet. Just a dose of thinly veiled optimism.

In my chat feed, a photo. Son #2 with his bike, out to start the season. Standing at the end of the driveway, in front of a very familiar house. My first thought, of course: “Is he a homing pigeon, at heart?”

This morning, during our community group meeting, I think we dodged a “bullet”. Or, at a minimum, a muddy quagmire. You see, last year during the annual general meeting, it was mentioned that we would examine the existing bylaws document, and bring forth any proposed changes to the next AGM. As is, just over a month from now. A whole year; you can work wonders in a year…

Spent a few minutes in the wonderful world of Jer In His Car. Not the real name of the show, of course. In truth, I’m not even sure they had real coffee. This is the world of TV, and all of the coffee was wonderful, episode after episode. That’s not even plausible. I say that as a purist, who pulls his own shots in the kitchen and then rarely touches the stuff outside of my comfort zone.

Still too early for the paperwork to be completed, but I’m going out on a limb with my estimate; Canada will finish in the Top Three at the present Olympics. We won’t have received the medals that count (for me): hockey, “real” curling, anything in speed skating, but others are impressed. Now I just have to set the alarm for tomorrow before dawn. The Closure. One of the big moments on my quadrennial approach to sports.

Following the visit of the kids last summer, I received advice that (going forward) my garage door would need to be lubricated, eventually. Not sure where the kid in question picked up such knowledge, but after a quick Google consultation, I am now the proud owner of a spray can of lithium grease. Next step, find out where the door squeaks, I guess.
