Just taking a nap

Guilty. I overthink things that are technical. We’ been faced with the possible failure of  a macerator pump that serves to empty waste tanks on the RV. And I did not want to learn what happens when those tanks are full, with no visible means of undertaking the “big dump”. The reseult is that I’ve watched videos and read forum posts and fretted.

Take your seat and listen

Along the way, I had the responsibility to listen. To others; I tuned out the voices in my head, a long time ago. There was one place where I wish I had li<stened with more care. Convocation addresses.

Objective vs subjective

I had to find out. When did YouTube begin? Of course, Google knew. Back in 2005, in Califormia. What I didn’t get from the query is the part I actu.ally wanted to know. Did the idea for the service begin with a parent faced with the daunting homework assignment of sending Buddy off to do his turn on stage in “show And Tell”. I have my suspicions

Cartoon security

Keeping an eye on your property? There are centuries of prior art. Consider a tower, in the corner of the castle keep. We’ve moved ahead, some. Want some good hints? Watch that “Home Alone” movie. Or some of the Mission Impossible catalog. Want something more modern? YouTube,  naturally.

A side effect of gravity

The weather can be a great equalizer. Right now, there’s a heavy fog bank between me and the sea. Looking out the window, there’s a gray that predominates the view. My view. Most of the time. Yes, my failing eyesight reduces the contrast. If any one else wondeers about what I see… just wait for a foggy evening.

An invisible envelope

Somewhere, here on my des which upktop, is an envelope. Technically, the desktop is really the dining room table, but one flat surface replaces another, when a laptop is deployed. The available surface is limited, because we have stuff. I was shown the envelope, this morning, and my grasp of the situation was that “it” would be in plain sight. That’s the wrinkle in the universe.

Is school fatal?

When CBC released the latest pandemic numbers for this province yesterday, I did look. Couldn’t make any sense out of the tallies, until I read just a bit more. We have numbers, but lacking any scientific validity.

Zoom by

New life skills; now include attending meetings remotely. In my “old job”, that was one of my special tasks. I kept a whole group of indviduals in the same virtual room, using video conference equipment. It worked, almost always. And I learned to intervene graciously because administrators are best handled with gently interventions.

Circles in the sand dunes

Another afternoon of going down a virtual rabbit hole. Today, triggered by the concept of offroading, I watched more videos. Why? In part because one of the kids now has this on his interest list, and as a parent, I feel obligated to keep up.

Once, I went

Back in ’77 I was a very young aand new amateur radio operator. Still waiting to try my upgrade examination to Advanced Class (Canadian). And through an odd alignment of “stars” I ended up attending the National Convention. In Toronto. Overwhelming given my level of expertise and my budget.
