Just taking a nap
Guilty. I overthink things that are technical. We’ been faced with the possible failure of a macerator pump that serves to empty waste tanks on the RV. And I did not want to learn what happens when those tanks are full, with no visible means of undertaking the “big dump”. The reseult is that I’ve watched videos and read forum posts and fretted.
This afternoon, a willing volunteer slid underneath with a simple screwdriver. In less time than it takes to tell the story, the pump gearing was unjammed and tested. Fixed! No need to source a replacement pump, or worse. I would not have been effective at going in for the “tweak”, but I will take bragging rights. And the next time we head away from civilization, I won’t have to dig one of thuse little pits in a patch of poison ivy.
Right now, those in high places are faced with far too many dead birds along the shorelline. I know; nature has always managed, in the past. But we want the tourists to visit, and then leave a five star report for others. Dead seabirds are negative publicity. No idea what science will advise. We know the cause, but not the cure (avian flu, I hear). And the problem covers a large area, so we might have to invent a solution. Please, don’t say “plague”. Or “just nature doing its thing”. :ooking for something that sounds better, in case a perplexed tourist asks. No stories fit for tiny children. “Yes, the birds can fly, but they are taking a nap” rings false, after the first few days.
