Prepping for the next week
Omorrow, I have a new challenge. Alone, at home. Not actually alone; the dog will remain close by, secure in the knowledge that I can find treats on his behalf. It will be my first multi-day test since the start of this tumultuous vear.
I am without stress, but others are going to fret until the end of the road trip. You might have guessed. I’m not going away. Some things are going to have to wait for a while. But, I have food, and a landline. If I need, there are friends out there. Some are already scheduled to do check-in calls. A welcome change from my daily conversations with fake Amazon and credit card callers.
Remember, I have a routine. This is part of it. Another finds me trying to advance my new language skills. The birdspotting, not so much, unless one flies inside and forces me to use a broom. I’m more of a vacuum cleaner fan.
I can’t avoid the world for much longer, but right now it is too nippy to go wandering. My parka is already stowed away, I think. Not prepared to showcase my cane skills, and this roadtrip would have put me on paths to new places, in the dark. I’ll wait for the movie.
In a parallel changeup, the dog received a parcel this afternoon, containing “treats”. In a box identified as Amazonian, delivered from an anonymous auto. I must discover the rest of this tale. Is he finally learning how to order stuff when I’m inattentive? That could be interesting. Should be enough of his comfort foods to get us through the next “almost week”.
