Perhaps a tiny trial tap

In my email an offer that leaves me with many questions. It was an offer to participate in a Kickstarter. I like these, hence the email. But I didn’t chip on, because I couldn’t find a real need.

ccidental or incidental

As I age (gracefully), I’ve noticed that playing “Six Degrees” gets easier. Actually, I’ve moved beyond relationships, and I now allow incidents in my life to count.  But that is incidental to my cause.

Where and when one eats

Eating is a complex process. The where, and when and with whom can be as important as what. Consider posture; I still remember my first visit to a restaurant modeled on the Maghreb. Reclining on the floor, surrounded by cushions was distracting. Proof: at home I have a table, with chairs. Could have switched things out, but I didn’t.

A modern day venial sin

Let’s start with a caveat. My knowledge of how a business decides what to tell a client is limited to my own experience. When I choose to purchase from your company, via the web, I haven’t looked you in the eye. With that, please don’t tell me lies. Not even “white lies” which are still a venial sin on the judgement list. If you tell me you have an item in stock, and then collect my financial data, and then extract the funds from my bank accout… don’t send me an email with the update that my ordeer is on hold.

Seeking the familiar

Maybe the rules were different, in the shadow of wartime.

This evening, using the resource of YT, I watched a movie that dates back to 1946. Before my time,  set in a war that still holds some of its cards face down. The film, 13 Rue Madeleine is a story of espionage.  Back then, people still hunted for secrets, and the movie portrays a plot line that never gets too convoluted.

New faces at the feeders

rained and then it was done. Last evening’s weather was just a distraction; today we are back to the quest for spring. New (for this season) birds at the feeders, with the usual excitement over seeing familiar forms. I remain curious is these are returning from a winter away, or if we have actual new talent. Hard to be sure, given the lack of indviduality. Really. A sparrow is a sparrow. Ditto for the finches.

Too slick to flail

This might be a hard habit to break. I sometimes lie down for a quick nap, without deciding what the effect on my daily routine might be. Specifically, I should abjure naps before meals. The interaction between hunger and sleep (the REM vairiety) lead to vivid dream sequences that lack certain elements of logic.

Adaptive distress

We have evolved. Now, when you grab that pair of mittens, fresh from Grammy’s needles, there is a reasonable chance that there will be a “fit”. Two hands, able to contain an average hand. Simiarly, at the shoe store, the number of shoes in the box aatches well with the average number of feet. I know, size can be an issue, but there is a concerted effort to keep your toes out of the mud. Coats rarely have three sleeves. We have reached a point of agreement on what is common.

In the shadow of technology

Admittedly, I haven’t really grasped the naming of historic periods after royalty. I also haven’t grasped the whole relevance of royalty, which might explain a lot. However, today I matched the lives of my grandparents to that of Edwardian children. Allows me to situate them on a timeline. And after watching a couple of documentaries, I am glad that they lived in rural PEI, with little access to new technologies. It’s a wonder that any of us exist, given the interesting ways of bringing a lifespan to a halt.

Silencing the klaxon

The announcement by two federal parties to conclude a pact of non-agression was well received, here at home. The idea that we could avoid the discomfort of elections until the end of the current session fits in well with the principle of fixed term lengths. In this case, it also hits a mute button on the klaxon voice of a particular odious MP. Only last week, he was off to fund raise, waving the banner of him being the “next PM of C”. Not so fast. Here’s a chance for you to sit on your tuffet.
