Not so fast food

On the list of things to teach your kids: Going for fast food is a matter of scheduling. In practical terms, trying to buy Thai on a really cold Friday evening is worth a half hour of your time, minimum. Been there, know the drill.

Hardly the frenzied dance we feared

Today was “Dogcam Day”, and before leaving for the bus, I carefully pointed the camera and checked that things were visible on the phone. How times have changed!

A toe in the water

Right now, I feel like an old (sleepy) dog, trying to learn new tricks. What I really want to do is roll over and snooze, but I’m too proud to give in. Case in point, those that sculpt snow for the Carnaval. Under deadlines imposed by the organizers, as well as those from weather. Yesterday, the competitors were told to lay down their tools and take a break. The site was required for a photo op by Stevie. That taste in your mouth should be one of bile.

Stretch or shrink your pennies

Thanks to our frugal ancestors, the phrase “A penny saved is a penny earned” has made good sense for more than four centuries. Alas, inflation and government interference have made this into historical irrelevance. The penny is going, going, gone.

Instant earworms

Just on a whim, I played an  excerpt from Glee for a colleague that didn’t “know” the program. No surprise: instant earworm. That explains so much.
