Funny thing; a special guest on the evening news brought back memories of my first effort to Dance, as opposed to jumping around in a genetic response to fiddle music. In town, for a concert, Chubby Checker. And yes, he still teaches the Twist.

Standards

Sometimes, all it takes is a decent format. MP3 is one. EPUB is another. A way to make media fit the player, rather than requiring a plethora of gadgets to get around the idiotic notion that the consumer won’t notice.

Exhorting myself to think warming thoughts

Let’s play the “What’s it like outside?” game. The one that goes “wet vs dry”,  and “hot vs cold”. I’d throw in “windy vs calm”, but that only matters when you can’t keep a straight face in the draft. Today, the local weather service page made things clear; it was cold enough to make one believe in the mitts and tuque fashion statement.

Listen to the words, above all else

And in the end, he said what had to be said, and everyone applauded. Around the world.

Tonight, the king spoke to me; across the years and the ocean wide. He overcame his fear, looked the monster in its eye and delivered his text, as if he’d been born to the role. And I believed him. We’ve just finished watching The King’s Speech, starring Colin Firth. I had read the reviews, had an idea of the basic premise, went willingly into the fray. And came out pleased.
