Double header on my time
Contrary to what the advertising industry tells you, the best thing on TV is not the ads. I’ve tried the model “with” and the model “without”, and in the absence…
I’ve had a wonderful evening, with vicarious entertainment. This has been an Idol evening. Thanks to the wonder of time-shifting, the audition round from last evening was available today. All two hours, condensed into 83 minutes of running time. This evening, my hour took an hour, but there were more occasions for breaks in other parts of the house, if you get my meaning. The content of AI in Milwaukee and Nashville allowed the excesses of the pitch men to pass without pain.
I had the house to myself, which meant that I could kick in some surround sound (and HD, for the front 83). Sure, it was TV. Sure, it was AI. But among the chaff there’s still some precious grain, and we’re in for another entertaining season. Steve and J-Lo are funny.
It takes guts to get up in front of famous folks and sing. Even badly. The comments aren’t always a balm for wounded spirits. The back stories are “over the top” at times. But, why else would we watch, in prime time. If the show was all about the voices, we’d simply collect some audio feed and carry it along in our iPod worlds.
No, I’ll not be hiking south with a git to git to Hollywood (no passport, yet). But I’ll defend my right to watch others trying to fly.
