The game plan for today seemed reasonable; a training session with some school administrators. I’d installed the test dataset, and my phone list was clear. Collection of a steno pad for taking notes, and a ride over to the training centre. Check. Check. Check.

Is there anything more comforting than a wet nose stuck in your face as you bounce out of a dream? The enthusiastic wet nose of a dog who has finally discovered where you’ve been hiding for what must seem like a lifetime in the time-confused brain of the canine. I for one welcome my toothy overlord. That’s why we choose to live with a dog, for those moments that others find yucky and that we accept as signs of true love.

The whole family went out for a drive today. Pretty rare occasion. Even had to put another seat back in the van, to show how seldom we’re all in the same vehicle these days. We were on the road to a birthday celebration; my father-in-law is up to the four score point. Doesn’t happen that often. We even managed to find some special balloons, after a bit of research.

Today I was a hunter. In the modern, post artillery sense. This is the start of the Thanksgiving weekend in Canada; we have to celebrate our harvest earlier than the Americans to avoid snowfall. And, if tradition is to be followed, a turkey must be part of the menu.

As our bus rolled through a street construction site this evening, I watched the fellow on his small bulldozer, rolling back and forth to pack down a layer of sand. After all, the better the base is packed, the longer the road will last.
