Give thanks while things are good
Another long holiday weekend has come and gone. The supper was well-received and all present found that the turkey was sufficient. No need to send out for Big Macs to round out the meal.
Even the debone and dump went without any problem other than the loss of all but two of the prickpins used to seal the stuffing inside the bird. Guess I’ll have time to shop for more before Christmas.
Given the news that North Korea is now a confirmed nuclear player should give pause. The general sense of peace we enjoy here could be rudely challenged in the upcoming months. The Great Leader is not recognized as a beacon of emotional stability by anybody on this side of the fence. His country is a successful vendor of nasty missiles; attach some really big bang to the stick and somebody is going to have a bad day. Could be us.
The various wars in the Fertile Crescent have had effect here, but the next trouble spot has dragged Canadians in before now. Could happen again. I pray that somebody other than the Bush league president south of here will be called up before the game gets too edgy.
