Trying to install a bike trailer, for the last hour. Turns out that there is one bolt on another rack which needs to shrink. Not going to happen, this evening. But that’s a problem for another day. More than a few of them on hand; I need never be bored again.

How is that Stevie and his posse can go on a road trip to New York, for what many call UN Week, and then studiously ignore the gathering? Hard to take the man seriously, if he didn’t leave so much collateral damage in his wake.

I’m on the platform, waiting for the train. At least, that’s how it feels; waiting for visitors, and family, and unsure of what would happen if I simply went to sleep. On TV, a documentary on fishing in the Maggies; interesting, but hardly new material for me. I should return there, next summer.

The transit system is starting to stabilize. Two days in a row; home in reasonable time. The police (that wave their arms) are improving their technique, and the the new “terminus” on the university campus is starting to herd the stampede. Or something like that. I’m glad, because spending the winter waiting for late transit would not be a “fun activity”.

Most of us, when we are somewhere around eight years of age, for a club. Complete with clubhouse, and secret signs and lists. Don’t forget the lists. The “enemy” list, above all. Turns out that the PMO (Harper’s playhouse) hasn’t. The media happened to come across one of the briefing binders prepared for new members of the club/cabinet, wherein you can find that someone asked staff to include a list of “friend and enemy stakeholders”. Make what you will of that one. Oh, and failure to play along with the rules would see the staff member excluded. Like I said, a pretty close model of the clubs of our childhood.

Trying hard to cover my disappointment. I won’t be receiving a brick from the Great Wall. Something about overweight baggage and insistent customs officials. Oh well! On to the next big idea.

After several minutes of reflection, I realized that my life worked well, but only because I had no need for entrepreneurial effort. If my daily bread depended on my growing the grain, shaping the loaf and warming the oven, I’d be a hungry lad. Or skinnier. The possibilities are interesting.

My years of math classes (in high school) have left me poorly prepared for the scale of numbers required to get through the daily newspaper. Discounting “infinity”. Let’s look at some of the announcements from the rag, over the last few days. In passing, I can identify with few.

On the news, I learned that a huge ape, a huge octopus and a huge dinosaur have run amok somewhere along the Pacific Rim. Something to do with the results of radiation (from a tsunami?). OK. It wasn’t the news. It was a Japanese movie from 1962, but it still held us spellbound. Akin to a train wreck, where you can’t tear your eyes away.

This will be a mundane post, to reflect a mundane day. Fasten your seatbelt, though. Just in case.
My eyeglasses still need two lenses, even if one is there as a windscreen. I noticed that a certain state of dizziness accompanied me throughout the day, and when I arrived at the optical shop… I was happy. My new pair of glasses were ready, at the time the lady had promised. Good stuff. As well, my day gained a bit of flash, when the delivery truck showed up at work (at the appointed time). Suddenly, clocks made sense. Enough detail.
