Example of a pointless road trip

posted in politics |

How is that Stevie and his posse can go on a road trip to New York, for what many call UN Week, and then studiously ignore the gathering? Hard to take the man seriously, if he didn’t leave so much collateral damage in his wake.

I received a parcel from China, with an I/O card. Except that (due to my inattention), I received exactly what I ordered instead of what I needed. Good thing the price point is so low. The wait; I wait, all the time. No big deal.

In Montreal, an investigation has opened into why the titular head of the largest organized crime group (I’m not going to name them, just because) received an income tax reimbursement of close to $400K, when he owed close to $1 million. As the investigator put it, this wasn’t a simple clerical error. Cheques that large have to gather a whole sheet of initials; it’s the rule. That means that a man with a “household name” either has a lot of friends on the inside, or friends that should be inside. Nuance intentional.

At work, we’re trying to work around a strange situation. One of the regional techs has implemented network policies that make it VERY difficult for the rest of us to do our jobs. After long discussion, the conclusion is that somehody has to do something about it. And there the hoe gets stuck in the row. One more brick in my wall; if a “buyout”, like in the good old days, was on the table, I’d be out the door and kicking my heels in the air.
