Random things to obsess about

Game on!  Even though the team didn’t win, last evening, they’re back throwing stones in the hope that some will stick. I’m torn between writing this post and watching the action; realistically, I’ll be done here before another end goes by, so there’s little stress.

Waiting for the rains

Busy day. Two meetings. With my luck, I’ll be awake half the night, simply rehashing all the things from my day of community service.

My great leap forward

About the same time that I was starting to understand this education game, the rule makers threw a curve ball my way. And I, unaware of the bases ahead, hit it. You see, when we went home for the Easter pause during my second year, my parents received a message from the teacher requesting that they buy me more text books. The ones for next year…

Multi-everything education

During the hiatus following my first year of formal education, I actually changed schools. Between a location one mile to the west and one mile to the east, there’s not a lot of difference… for an adult. For me, I went from a three room to a two room school.  Still required getting a ride to and from with my father (except for a few, odd days when I walked home).

Are you with me?

This evening, while waiting for my soup (cream of chicken) to cool (just a little), I happened to read an article. Life’s too short to waste precious moments while the steam clears. Anyhow, this article discussed the basics of journaling (which has nothing to do with taking a backup of the payroll system).

Let the tolls go

In Canada, going to prison because you want some time alone just got harder. The courts (no link to that whole prison thing, apparently) has declared that unlimited solitary confinement is not allowed. Not only do you have to hang out in the crowbar hotel, but you have to mingle with the other guests.

A world in grey

Outside, there wasn’t much to see. Heavy fog turned my world into a grey shadowy place. Didn’t matter, really. I knew where I wanted to go, and on a weekend, the traffic was minimal. Having got up early for the dog, I simply had an early breakfast before heading (off? up? down? unsure…) to town.

Once burned twice shy

The 2018 Golden Globes ceremony was on, last evening. A retrospective of the film and TV industry, along with some powerful social commentary. The only shadow, for me, was the “Oprah for President” whisper. Hey, haven’t you people just gone through the election of a media superstar? Do you think practice will improve the outcome?

Wait for the other side of the tale

The other side of the story: that’s the kicker, isn’t it. You put together a plausible explanation, one that should remove any shadow of blame for a perceived wrong move, and then the rebuttal kicks in. And kicks away the foundations of your tale. As a certain president puts it, “Sad!”

School planning notes

Spotted in a tall tree, just outside: three robins. Something seriously out of the ordinary about that. Did I miss the long season?
