Paying for songs, again and again

Music. I now realize that  having a  physical copy of  a performance is  an invitation to  renewal.  That is, I keep getting  rid of my  various investments, as time goes on.

My gradual role reduction

This evening, I stepped  away from  the table. In  administrative terms, at least. I have had a minor role to play in a local community group. I learned, I laughed, I  saw that my own contributions were heading into unseen territory, literally. Those blank pages that others could read, meant that I am, for the future, going to have to adjust my take on life. This was the first  official detail.

A card cutter convention

Consider it as barter. Our final sack of kibble to the man across the way, in return for some fresh lobsters. One of a kind deal. Not something we would every have done, back in the big city.

Power in a box

My need for standby power is not a secret. If I have to sit in the dark, it will be by choice, not by necessity. Geny is out by the corner of the house, assuring that a power outage should not  endure for more than a few seconds (hurricane excluded).

Skoolie days

Those of us who are of a certain age will remember the family with their own bus. A rock band, with Mom at the wheel. Enough seats for each  to have their own bench. And the  mechanical fitness of the bus was never in doubt, given that the company had their own maintenance depot.

Cutting the cord, carefully

This afternoon, we embarked on an adventure.

After careful analysis of your needs, we decided that the Internet service offered by Hell was  an excess cost. An insult to our intelligence but that is  just an impression. We have had a week with satellite, and paying much money for pennies in bandwidth no longer stirred my heart. Just my wallet. And with that decided, we began the long discussion to keep our landline and remove our Internet feed. The provider reacts like a wounded serpent, when reducing money is a part of the game.

High or low, the wind will blow

It might  have been due to the onset of winter.  After our first real hurricane came through, back in the last part of September, my weather station went offline when the sensors were removed by a combination of wind and gravity. And some damage to the railing  around the deck.
