Moments from elsewhere

Spent some time revisiting past travel points. Not literally; safe here at home with vivid memories. And it should not surprise anyone that these moments were low key.

Mothers of invention

I will have to check my notes, but I remember hearing that necessity was the mother of invention. Well, I just watched a session (involving mothers, possibly) where people presented their favourite gadget for camping. And I am simply amazed.

Late to the feast

We all have regrets. One that I am willing to mention: that for too long I ignored the pleasures of coffee and chocolate. Even, if you want to push the envelope, combinations involving the two. Coffee Crisp!

Keeping the outsiders outside

Imagine being asked if you are willing to share. As a condition of employment. Specifically, your bed. Keeping this as family content, I will explain more. First of all, I had no brothers. Never had to share my bed. And from what I have read, back in the war, on ships, the sailors had insufficient bunks for the personnel. So, they “hot bunked”. That’s where you rolled out and someone else rolled in. Never seen it, in practice, but for someone that likes the sheets to be cool at bedtime, it seems awkward. Moving along.

Green with red mud highlights

In the absence of big moments, the smaller ones get my attention. And you bear witness to my trivial lifestyle. Today, I awoke to the sound of feet on the roof. Clarification: people feet. We don’t do deer around here. The recent wind episodes continue to affect the shingle integrity, and we have a team of repair persons that come when we call, if the winds have subsided. Unwashed wings

It goes with age. We tend to have a very balanced lifestyle, and that includes diet. Respect for the food groups. Moderate portions. The credit belongs to herself, as I haven’t been much of a grocery shopper this last year. Can’t read it (labels). Even at home, I’ve been weaned/warned away from the stove and oven.

Those cold prison walls

Perhaps I can blame the weather. Rain, with risk of freezing. Removed the snow, again. And the grey shies brought back memories. Of school.

Just a hiccup

When the tweet announced that their boy had mastered the use of the home toilet, I figured it was another case of proud parents. The photo told us so much more. Those pointed ears. That tail. A cat! Parents are funny that way. My own conclusion is that the feline brain looked outside and realized the humans had a good idea, for once.

Another day, another jab

Another day, another  jab. Actually, based on my own checklist and a rapid consultation with the pharmacist, I might be done for now. The professional advice was to contact Public Health and see if there was any other product in the back of their cooler. No. I’m good. And a bit sore. We aren’t designed to serve as human pincushion.
