Mothers of invention
I will have to check my notes, but I remember hearing that necessity was the mother of invention. Well, I just watched a session (involving mothers, possibly) where people presented their favourite gadget for camping. And I am simply amazed.
One person had sections of fabric, cut to size, that would cover a window and reduce the ambient light while trying to sleep. A light screen. I missed the name for the invention, but there was a remarkable similarity to curtains.
Another person had a blanket, that would keep you warm if you plugged it into a portable power source. Similar to a battery. I do hope that the battery is renewable, because I learned at an early age that if you leave your flashhight turned on all night, it became a flashdark. My name; you can choose whatever suits.
Yet another person had a gadget that had an integral container and a water heater. You could use it to prepare a hot beverage before bedtime. She mentions that this would preclude the need for another container. Like a mug.
Another person had thing, similar to a stick, that would hold your camera when the need to take a selfie struck. We used to call them tripods, but that was in a different time and place. The stick actually could be made smaller or larger, according to the user’s needs.
I tell you. People are ingenious. And with Amazon as a source, no need to actually construct any of the above devices. You can have them delivered right to your door, for free. We are within reach of finding solutions to all of the world’s problems.
