Late to the feast
We all have regrets. One that I am willing to mention: that for too long I ignored the pleasures of coffee and chocolate. Even, if you want to push the envelope, combinations involving the two. Coffee Crisp!
I didn’t discover that coffee had magical qualities until I went off to technical school. Yes, all through university I remained in voluntary separation. Until life brought me into the world of the pour-over. I have tried other methods, but this one remains a staple while camping.
As for chocolate, I had my moments. Those big bunnies at Easter come to mind. It took a long time for me to discover that there were hundred of places to find goodness. No, not with coated insects, but maybe I just need to try one, in a controlled experiment. There are so many other places, where melted chocolate completes the combination.
Could I exist with or without. Certainly. Life is short, so I intend to continue with my learning. If it required a hot mug or a tablet to get me through, so be it.
Yes, I have tried coffee beans dipped in dark melted cacao. Yes, it was good. Ditto for a hot mug filled with dark roast brew that has highlights. I have been around, a bit. Will I go on a world tour of “the best”? Probably not. Although, if a benefactor decides to pick up my tab, I would get on board. A choco-coffee train!
Until then, I should pick up a sack of CC bars at the bulk food store. Great price and no need to deal with all those wrapping papers. My nod to the environment.
