Tag shopping

Tonight marked the annulal general meeting for the community group that I joined. Almost eight years ago. Seems like the seasons have gone by in a blur. Tonight, I stepped back from the table. Admitted that my involvement, going forward, would be only to the level that I could handle, physically.

It really is round, right?

Starting to feel that we’re doing a reboot on life. Sat outside for coffee, this morning. Wenot out for food at a local restaurant this evening. Not far, but not bound to the chair in my kitchen. And the dog toughed out our absence, for the two hours or so. Seriously; a big change from even a few months ago.

No shock aand awe this time

One of my neighbours is curious… about my solar generator. That big battery box, that travels well in the RV, but that requires major lifting on my part when I have to move it from here to there. Locally, folks tend to favour noisy boxes with a thirst for petrol. My choice took me down a different route. The sun is free, albeit prone to turning off at night. But, with sufficient batteries, you can move bast that minor inconvenience.

Continued testing

If it works fWhy ar cricket, maybe it works for “home alone training”. The dog, I mean. We decided to go for a second evening of humans out and dog in, by visiting a new local restaurant. New, sort of. A familiar locale, with familiar furniture, and a familiar menu, but with new owners. Let the record show that the food was great, and the dog passed his time alone properly.

Cover complications

Some jobs take longer than expected. Even the simple ones. I had decided that this would be an ideal evening to finish my BBQ installation. Finally atttach the propane tank, and do the sniff test. That part went as I had hoped.

For want of a (wiper) blade

The world needs karma. If thisI is something in limited supply, I vote that we give the first doses to the programmers at Microsoft, who decided that updating my Windows and then letting me know after the fact, deserve a whoppign share. I just sat down, here, and learned that something has changed. It is now up to me to discover what. I really am too old to find this amusing.

An apparent collision

I’ll open today’s post with a disclaimer. I am not a builder. I know nothing about the rules and the codes that apply to getting a house from the napkin in a coffee shop to a tight and tidy bungalow. I do have a few decades of bemused observation under my belt, though.

Waiting for the next big thing

Today, I almost became a big winner. Really! The caller identified himself with a generic name, and asked me several times about how I was today. My response was noncommital. “I don’t know yet”. We moved on to the second section of his script, where he informed me that he was calling from “a publisher’s clearing house”; I didn’t need to ask if he meant THE PCH. I was informed that I had won a big prize (note the lack of clarity, here).

Foul air, begone!

My mission, for several months, has been to prepare the RV for an eventual adventure. No real plaas, which reduces the stress level. More of a need to be ready, just in case. A proverbial Go-Box, but actually a Go-Bus.

a school, but with drones

I now want to know more. The local university (my university) has just opened a new facility, away from what I always considered to be the campus. How far? About an hour, from parking lot to parking lot. The school is devoted to environmental studies, and they let the stodents fly drones. This is so different from my own time on campus, and I’m left asking if I was born a half-century too early. Probably. If there had been drones, back in the day, I would have finagled some pilot time, with or without the proper permissions. Now, I just want to know more about the program of study. No, I won’t be applying; that life is behund me, and no, I won’t be ordering any tiny personal flight toys, late at night from Amazon. But I can still dream.
