Tag shopping
Tonight marked the annulal general meeting for the community group that I joined. Almost eight years ago. Seems like the seasons have gone by in a blur. Tonight, I stepped back from the table. Admitted that my involvement, going forward, would be only to the level that I could handle, physically.
There’s a certain sadness. So much more that needs to be done. Happily, there are new faces coming forward. Some, that I had as students, almost a lifetime ago. How did I get so old (so fast)? I hope to continue adding to the big mix, but my part will be ancillary. A lovely word.
There was a road crew outside, today. Not much to watch, but they fixed the rough patch at the end of our driveway. Not paving, exactly. I haven’t thought about actual blacktop, because of the way it would mess up water flow. And we really are minor traffic in the broader scheme of things.
Starting to shop for luggage tags. Right now, anything I might take into a public venue would be lost from view, the first time I turned my head. If I want my stuff to follow me home, I have to assist others. Having my name and address on a bag, (or a cane) is just due care and attention on my part. I temporarily recycled a tag (metal) that a friend brought me from a shopping trip to ME. Wrong address. My name is still the same, so that’s a start. And they do sell tags. People still have luggage. I’ll do some shopping on my own, although I won’t go to a tourist attraction across the border, unless I have the chance.
As we tried to schedule the “next meeting”, this evening, my only takeaway was that summer is here, and is very short.
