At the sound of the beep
Here’s some advice: “Always look on the bright side of life”. Succinct. There’s a catchy little ditty with this sentiment. Available on YT, if you’re too young to remember the original rollout. However, if you did watch the movie, from a cheerier time (it means that you are old as dirt).
I watched a documentary about the movie, which I remember. Controversy, throughout the Western world. Some people (then, like now) take their personal religion too seriously. Almost as if the belief system will be eroded if faced with satire. When the screenings were scheduled, locally, there was a proper brouhaha. We wondered if the threatres would dare to confront the strong beiles of a very vocal minority. That’s how I got to see “Life Of Brian” at a time when I barely understood satire, and its implications. I have watched it, again, several times.
Had another visit from my field worker, checking on my level of confidence now that I have my cane and a varietty of dark glasses. See how easily I have made the cane my own. No floggings given or received. On fact, the next visit won’t happen unless I request one. Seems that I am adapting well.
The faulty smoke alarm is gone. New model in its place, with a battery that won’t need to be swapped out for the effective life of the device. Progress. Although we have others to retire, soon, I can state that one small aggravation is just a distant memoy. Beep… Beep… usually at an ungodly hour. Since I don’t burn toast (often) the alarm is ignored.
