In the absence of a plan

According to the calendar, we still have three weeks to reset. Put life back to normal. My hunch is that it will not happen.

Wonders to behold

I live in a wonderful part of the world, filled with neat places and things. But, how about the rest of the world? What do they have that would be listed as special? Fun fact: you can’t begin to realize how many things there are. Since I can’t travel, I have to rely on the testimony of others, one location at a time.

The last few miles were mine

With an hour of highway driving, our family returned to its regular status: “one car family”. The dance isn’t over until we receive a confirming call that son #2 has received his new wheels, but the part at this end is completed.

Getting a car ferried

Do the math. If you double the number of automobiles under your care, you double the number of snow tires that have to be installed before the beginning of winter. We’re still in double-digit temperatures, so the local garages aren’t under siege; you call and you come over. Easy. In fact, one of the cars, here, is so new that the tires and wheels came directly from the dealer. It’s still a dance, though.

Look! New weather!

And then, it hailed. Again and again. As if the weather wizards were checking to see if we had taken notice. Around here, we usually get a short flurry. Not today.

On the road to a renewal

How far did I have to go, to renew my contact with the world? Well, I finally have a number. 107 km. This afternoon, with no other reason than “we could”, the dog and his people loaded up the RV and went for a drive. What would be called a “Sunday drive”, except that this is Saturday.

Impulsive menu choices

Imagine that! Suppertime, and in a sudden changeup I ignored the package of steak, opting instead for a bowl of fresh salad. Think of the possibility for my longer life, based on one simple meal.

Accepting that this summer will not be the same

It might be fun to think that I knew where my big repair plan was going; delusional, but fun. Today, after a number of false leads, I recovered my bookmarks and passwords from Firefox. Now, my workflow should improve, greatly. No more guessing what I might have used as my identity on sites not visited for many months. Do I have an improved plan, going forward? Maybe.

Local directions

Maybe this happens elsewhere, but I can only make reference to here. People give directions to a particular location, based on what is supposedly common knowledge. It might be, if you are from there and can boast about a long term relationship with the area.

Looking beyond our bubble

I suspect that this self-enforced quarantine is going to be more difficult, going forward. Here in Canada, the realization that winter is coming (no GOT reference intended) makes our summer seem even more valuable. Any vacation travel has to be planned with a climate-based agenda.
