Last chance for local roads

It all comes down to this; the last night before heading back to my regularly scheduled programming. I’m not ready. Is regret too strong an emotion for what has been a great summer?

Underselling the client

The ladybugs are back. For those who care about such things, there are a good quantity in stock, and they are all “six pointers”.

Let’s talk about windows and doors instead

Finally. We’re ahead of the campground curve. That is, we could leave the others behind in the rain to do their washing, because our’s was done under sunshine. I know, odd.

From automobile to immobile

As a corollary to the early bird and worm story, getting up and away from the campsite isn’t always successful. When you leave things too late, better to abandon the plan for an eventual rainy day and just stay near the picnic table. Or go for a walk on the beach. Forget going to town.

New homes and pot luck

Pardon me if the typing starts to stutter. I’m under attack from a voracious horde of bloodthirsty skeeters, and I might have to stop and swat. The weather has been classic summer all day long; a rumour of 1400 cars at the Basin (is that even possible?) A meal outside without a need to sponge out  the dish between swallows.

Developer dreams

Another afternoon spent close to home. Parentheses: home is a tent, and we’re actually far from our furniture and family. We dug into the cooler for breakfast ideas, had the requisite cup of mediocre coffee and then headed to visit a friend and catch up on the news.

Perusal of used stock

Call it tradition; today we returned to Papa Joe’s for the Thursday special. Corned beef in a boiled dinner. Lots of vegetables, a trace of mustard on the side, and a friendly greeting from the staff. Feels like home to me.

Bugs and then earwigs

Missed the sunrise. Not that I wasn’t up and ready, but the cloud cover permitted nothing more than an unkept promise. However, my despair was enough to trigger a down day, wherein we stayed close to the campsite and did other things.

Learning from experienced hands

Another day of learning about construction techniques and the real world of home ownership. I’ve mentioned my long-term intention to exchange my current house for something newer, better and in a very different place. Better to be informed before rather than after the fact about what is involved.
