Just wondering: how many really wrong things does a government have to do before we move to open revolt?

Another day where my only concern was getting a roast “done”. No big deal, anymore, but I did get to use a new proper pan, purchased in the hope that I’ll be less apt to spatter the oven…

Spotted three more species of bird on the property, this morning. Had to accept that my future “acquisitions” will require the assistance of others. I’m a primary colours kind of guy. The box of eight Crayola got me through early life. However, birds come in an astounding range of sizes and shapes and hues. I’m not going to be able to identify the majority of the flock, unless someone else hangs a label around their necks.

Thank you, the famous ball player who gave us the perfect quote for a Canadian winter: “It ain’t over till it’s over”. This morning, when I was wandering around, outside, barefoot (had to untangle a dog and his lead from the bird feeder pole), I was willing to believe that we’d have to push new plants back underground. This evening, as the wind howls and a whole new layer of snow moves (sideways) past the deck rail…

Odds are, every home has one. What my mother referred to as “the kitchen drawer”, where the objects without a proper shelf came to live. You need a nail, or some glue, or a hammer? Go look there, first. It might take some time to actually find what you wanted, but the rule of our house was that success lay there, first.

Thankfully, I never tried to make my life in “sales”. I’m not cut out for it, if the latest Netflix feed to our house, Paradise, can serve as a reference. Viscerally unable to lie to a client, I am. Willing to teach the right way (or product choice); in spades. My children would have had a hungry upbringing, if I had been required to cajole dollars out of other people’s pockets.

Another of the “big” holiday meals is now over. Except for dessert. That, too, shall follow.
This is the first truly green Christmas I’ve seen in years. I know, I know; global warming doesn’t work that way, but this is the mildest one in many a season. People were out walking on local beaches this afternoon. In T-shirts. That’s better than with a parka and snowshoes, right?

On the evening news, a story about a robbery on the Rock. No need to get into specifics, but the thieves took everything: furniture, gifts and the dog. Right there, I knew who was to blame. The Grinch.

I’m going to have to develop a plan for dealing with winter. Just hoping the temperature will rise to 10C with rain works, short term, but other than tomorrow there’s little chance of this resolving things. Yes, that’s the forecast. Still, I did go out and clear the plow-pile at the end of the drive; enough to allow a “run” to Souris for the essentials.
