In a Roku mood

posted in economy, technology |

Just wondering: how many really wrong things does a government have to do before we move to open revolt?

Seriously, the word “fail” comes to mind, more and more often. Today, our provincial gang gave us a head’s up; six months from now, the HST will rise. Because “they” need more money… unfortunately, that pairs with the idea that “I” need less. One percent isn’t a big deal, so how about dropping the level occasionally?

The new TV is in place, and I’m getting into a Roku mood. We already have a smart box from Apple, so this doesn’t change the game completely, but coupled with a larger, brighter screen, the whole things looks like a win. And, in perspective, we made our purchase before that wonderful HST hike.

Took me a while to recable everything. Harder to see where the wires are coming from, I guess. I refuse to start over again, so the whole process is akin to problem solving. Right now, we seem to have the same selection as this time yesterday, with the addition of a cable to display my laptop, should the urge arise. I tried it. Much higher resolution, yada yada. Not sure the rest of the family would accept that I adopt a new monitor.

And, in fact, I do get to use the old TV, eventually. Just need to sort out my space allocation. Once son #3 heads out, I will have a large desk back; might even get the radio transceiver out of its box. Fun times in the Maritimes.
