Life without a landline?

I undTerstand why change (in technology) is slow. The phrase of the day is that “it comes at a  cost”.That’s where we find ourselves, while contemplating a shift to better internet.  After asking locals that have gone for the gold standard, they pointed out that we might have to give up our landline, to avoid cost overruns.  I know; some of you have forgotten what it is like to be pld. I have a tppephone that provides me with security.  Not in the sense of “alarm systems”. Nore like a way to contact help. It doesn’t matter that I have never called the fire service, or an ambulance. It’s in case of need.

Finding a way to whisper “begone”

Having one of those days, where the world is too bright for my own good. It’s a vision thing. Right now, just seeing this screen, to type, comes with a high level of challenge. Working that things would revert to where I was, a year ago. Not going to happen. I wonder how that whole dictate to the  computer thing would work for me.

Another double-dog day

This is a tbawo-dog weekend.  It has rules. Two water bowls, not one. Two food bowls, not one. Sequence the outside time, unless you want to run a tandem harmess (I do, sometimes). No singing in a dog voice. Treats are to be shared equally.

Finally changed my (final) tire

The day started with a bulletin. Nothing official; son #3 letting us know that Intreac was out of order. This was not my fault; I haven’t used my imaginary money since ’22 started. I might be to blame for the failure of small business, but not the whole transactional show. And here we are, many hours later. Twitter is howling. We need to get rid of the monopoly in telecomm. I know; symptom, not cause. No matter.

Frequent mow

Supper is ended. A delicious Thai take=away, just in case you need to know. And afterward, I went  outside to enjoy that brief interlude before the invasion of the body snatchers. Mosquitoes. I don’t like to donate my blood.h

Musings from a wet afternoon

Rainy day. I would not notice, except that I have this mysterious hole in the basement. And it fills with water. And the particular pump that causes me to lose sleep in the spring is back to humming, uselessly. My next move includes spending money at the hardware store (after finding a close model match) and then doing the replacement dance. Or, as an alternative, I can perfect my skills as a water bearer. No, don’t call me Aquarius. This is me dipping, pulling, dumping, repeat. And I wish there was a better strategy.

A afternoon of fuel replacement

We made our first RV road trip of the season, today. Not far. More of a Sunday drive on a weekday. And as my uncle used to sao, “All back home on the same day”

Calculated in decades

Owning land is cool. I speak from a point of limited personal experience, given that this field  is only my second. I did increase the area from my first run, substantially, but I hardly consider myself as master of a huge doman. All relative, of course. I mean, one definition used to be “As far as I can see . I am getting there, albeit in a retrograde manner.

Cook until it smells done

Old school: put the meat in a hot oven and come back when the odor overcomes any fear you might have about eating it too rare. New school: put the meat into the air fryer, start the timer, and come back when the odor says done. Similar results, I hope.
