Seeing things
Time for me to reveal a small secret. I have a burgeoning super power. Still testing my ability, but my level of assirance is high.
I see things that aren’t there. Not ghosts; I prefer to reference them as “phantom images. The skill has been growing since the start of this year. Alighned with a sesssion of surgery. Simple beginning, in the car. We would stop, and the road would keep on moving. Disconcerting, but not enough to provoke motion sicnkess, si I would colse my eyes and see if “normal” would return. Sometimes. Then there were the calculator displays. Old school, with red dots, and the digits didn’t have meaning. Again, close my eyes and wait.
Today, while sitting comfortably, I noticed a rather large schematic diagram, unfolded on my lap. When I reached out to touch the diagram, my hand went right through. Phantom. I might have had the details of a life-changing device.
There’s actually medical support for these illusions. My optic nerve received flawed datat, and tries to fill in the blanks. Not nearly as much fun as I miht have imagined in a different context. Now, when the dog barks at ghosts, or our car, I accept that age and failing vision come with a price. Neighter of us will ever drive the car (again).
But, back to my super power. With a lifetime of DC comics behind me (not actual; that would be valuable), I know that strange things are possible. Keep an eye on this space. If I can get my hands on some of my sightings, I might discover the gadget that will change the future.
