Gentle breezes are seen as a positive thing. We assign mellifluos names, like Zephyr. Rolls off the tongue. Now, let’s crank up the volume. Go for a Force 8 on the Beaufort. A gale, with all the fear it provokes among mariners. Not exactly an 11, but we’re not interested in obscure amplifier volume references.

Having spent the whole of my life speaking English, I tend to be overconfident in my skills. But, now that we have a steady stream of TV from England, I find that there are certain lacks in vocabulary.. Nothing I can’t solve with an oversize dictionary, I hope. This evening, I had to halt and ponder. “Midlife gap year?”

Although I’ve owned and used cameras for a very long time, I didn’t pay much attention to the numbers. Profits, sales numbers, financial forecasts. Still don’t; just not part of my interest set. However, I will make time for short review articles. Today, I learned that owning a big camera company isn’t as lucrative as it used to be. The industry has collapsed, leaving two big names from my period, and they’re both feeling the pain. Drops in profits mean that prices will have to rise. To levels that would knock me out of the store, if I was a shopper. Glad that I’m not in the market for new toys.

Enough time has passed that I feel safe in recounting my tale. Yes, I had a minor role in the Great Train Robbery. Back then, I was young, and innocent. Young enough that my part would have been ignored by the authorities.

Spring. Spring fever. Actually, odd ideas and unrealistic expectations. Too many to count, but here’s a few from this afternoon.

The start of a long weekend. Good thing that I checked the calendar, because such moments no longer carry the same importance that they did in an earlier life. My life, I mean. When every day is “like Saturday” the idea of a holiday weekend fades. We had been warned, but until you get into the life of the retired, it’s hard to imagine.

Think of it as a gentle warning: in a manner similar to stray cats, Apple devices will invade your personaal space, settle in on the most comfortable surfaces, purr politely and then make the house their home. You will become an incidental. You will take care of their physical needs, and if you open the door, they will allow members of their family (race?) to join the party. Right now, I’m tasked with serving three iToys, and there are others around each corner of the house. Scary.

I’ve watched additional product reviews for screen protectors, and my tendency to have trust issues is flaring up. Too much nice. In fact, the number of positive reviews for one product is over the top. I’ve been seeking negative content, and I’m starting to come across some. It seems that the firm in question has provided a surprising number of samples to those who like free as a price point. Something like “I’ll say whatever your shill staff suggests”. Come on, if the product was that good, you would not need to advertise; because the big guys would include your pixie dust in their packages.
